On April 22, 2021, Justin Shepherd from JGL Hops was our April Speaker Series guest and talked growing hops in Canada.
Justin Shepherd produces hops with his family in Saskatchewan where they are proud to be innovators – helping to grow value-added agriculture and the craft beer industry. Justin will discuss some of the opportunities and challenges of growing and processing hops in non-traditional areas including public vs privately bred hops, growing hops in an area without a commercial tradition, and quality attributes of hops. He will also talk about the vital partnerships that hop growers forge with homebrewers and homebrew stores, creating the connections for finding high quality, Canadian-grown hops.
