Brewer Of The Year (BOTY) is a program that tracks the Canadian national homebrewing competition circuit, and strives to showcase the best of Canadian homebrewers through means of friendly competition.
BOTY was established in 2010 as a passion project by enthusiastic homebrewers. The program was volunteer based and tracked the results of all Beer Judge Certification Program (BJCP) sanctioned homebrewing competitions on an annual basis. The aim of the program was to allow homebrewers to locate sanctioned events and to set themselves a goal of producing the highest quality fermented beverages they could.
The results of competitions were tracked until 2020, when COVID-19 forced many homebrewers inside and prevented competitions from being run. With the original founders and volunteers deciding to move on, BOTY was taken over by the CHA in 2023, and will continue their efforts moving forward.
To support these efforts, the CHA and our BOTY committee, have created a set of guidelines that can be found here: BOTY – Participation and Organization Guidelines
